The problem with working from home...

I gather that a lot of people struggle to work from home. There can be too many distractions: screaming kids, noisy neighbours, the compulsion to be distracted by brain-sapping daytime telly...

The only problem I have with working from home is that every time I move, the dog takes it as a sign of impending playtime and proceeds to chase me around the flat with his squeaky toy.

And if it’s not that, then he’s sleeping on my paperwork.

As far as distractions go, I think I’ve got it pretty easy.

Field Notes

I was given this set of Field Notes for Christmas. They're so lovely that I'm reluctant to deface them with my awful scrawling handwriting.

I'll use one of them for recipes and another for the sentimental bits and pieces that I seem to always be collecting. The third one will be used for treasure maps. Maybe.

White Christmas Eve

Took this on the way to work this morning. It's still snowing up on Corstorphine Hill.

Rob Ryan e-card (warning: not safe for miserablists)

I defy you to watch this Rob Ryan e-card and not let it melt your little icy heart!

I adore Rob Ryan's laser-cut paperwork and screen prints. (And sometimes I'm just a sucker for sentiment.)

Work's Christmas lunch at the Atrium... (oh, and that free Photoshop

The fine art of typeface design: the making of Vesper (I love typography blog)

Rob Keller developed the Vesper font over the course of almost three years. I always knew typeface design was an intricate and iterative process, but here you see how much thought is put into the smallest details. The "contextual alternates" are brilliant.

Tis the season...for bokeh with fairy lights

I'm expecting to see a whole lot more of these bokeh photographs on Flickr in the next couple of weeks, but I'm not complaining.
